NATIONAL CERTIFICATE: DESIGN TECHNIQUES
Duration of Program: 1 Year Full Time

This qualification equips students to progress in a career in design and to practice in a variety of design fields. They will be able to work in commercial design studios, publishing companies, signage companies, or as a freelancer. Design is a fast growing and a fast changing industry that performs on a global level as a key contributor to national industries.

Students acquire the following range of design skills:

• Create original design messages, forms and arguments
• Use a variety of media and techniques to communicate visually
• Select materials, media and processes for production
• Produce final design products that meet specific project requirements
• Produce and present a design portfolio that evidences the fundamentals of design
• Interpret, analyse and critique design as a critical thinker
• Conduct research and communicate information academically
